Foreign Deals (Oct. 22)

Denmark-based Chr. Hansen acquired Austrian-based dairy ingredient supplier Osterreichische Laberzeugung Hundsbichler Gmbh to expand its enzyme production and presence into the traditional segments of specialty cheeses. Chr. Hansen sees a strong fit between its dairy business and Hundsbichler, which is expected to provide opportunities for synergies within sales, including cross-selling, supply chain improvements and innovation.

Restaurant Brands New Zealand Ltd. is in takeover talks with Mexico-based Finaccess Capital, which made a $578 million bid for a controlling stake. If the deal is completed, Finaccess Capital would own up to three quarters of Restaurant Brands’ New Zealand arm…Reuters (Oct. 17).

Germany-based HelloFresh will acquire Canada-based Chefs Plate Inc. Together, Chefs Plate and HelloFresh expect revenues of more than $150 million. To accelerate growth, Chefs Plate will maintain its own brand identity as part of HelloFresh.

France-based The Casino Group signed a partnership with the Quattrucci family to add twelve stores to its portfolio. Seven will be operated under the “marche frais Geant” banner and the other five will operate under the “marche frais Leader Price” banner. The stores will be supplied by the Casino Group.
