As food prices continue to rise in these economically uncertain times, value is at the forefront of many consumers’ minds and grocery loyalty programs are more important than ever. But which grocery loyalty programs do consumers value most?
Newsweek partnered with global data research firm Statista to rank America’s Best Loyalty Programs based on a survey of more than 4,000 U.S. consumers. Rewards members were asked which programs offer worthwhile rewards, which they are most satisfied with, and which they would recommend.
Here are America’s top five grocery loyalty programs in 2023:
1. Randalls for U
Randalls for U is a free loyalty program that boasts personalized deals, digital coupons, a free item every month, and even a special “birthday treat.”
Members earn one point for every $1 spent on groceries at any Albertsons Companies grocery banner store. With 15 different supermarket chains under the Albertsons umbrella, including Safeway, Vons, and Pavilions, it’s easy to rack up rewards in the form of discounts for every 100 points earned.
2. Dillons Rewards World Elite Mastercard
Dillons Rewards World Elite Mastercard is a credit card that shoppers must apply for online or by phone. The main reward that the card offers is cash back—5% on mobile wallet transactions (like Apple Pay, for example) for the first $3,000, 2% at Dillons stores, and 1% on other qualifying purchases.
3. H-E-B Points Club Rewards
Although H-E-B’s Points Club Rewards program was the third most popular choice among U.S. consumers surveyed this year, it was discontinued in 2022. The San Antonio-based chain has since replaced Points Club Rewards with DigiDeals, a service available through the My H-E-B app.
Points Club Rewards was a program exclusive to Waco, Texas, that awarded customers store credit for their purchases four times a year.
4. Family Fare yes Rewards
The yes Rewards program offers Family Fare shoppers digital coupons, personalized discounts, and savings on fuel. For animal lovers, there is an option to join the “Pet Club” within yes Rewards and earn a $5 gift card for every $100 spent on qualifying pet purchases.
Digital coupons can be clipped online or in the Family Fare mobile app, where shoppers can also track their rewards progress.
5. Smith’s Rewards World Elite Mastercard
Like the Dillons Rewards card, the Smith’s Rewards World Elite Mastercard is a credit card that shoppers must apply for with the exact same cash back structure. Both Smith’s and Dillons rewards Mastercard enable consumers to accumulate and redeem fuel points at Kroger Family of Companies Fuel Centers.
