American ingenuity is allowing Harps Food Stores to offer customers an innovative checkout experience. Through a joint integration from Birdzi and ECRS, grocers like Harps can now deliver personalized discounts to shoppers in real time.

Birdzi, a New Jersey-based customer intelligence and engagement company, recently announced an API integration with North Carolina-based retail solutions provider ECRS, alongside Harps, that allows customers to redeem digital coupons and loyalty rewards as they shop.

“The collaborative integration … allows Harps to provide our loyal shoppers with effortless access to immediate savings that matter to them,” said senior Harps executive David Ganoung, in a statement.

Moving forward, Harps aims to offer customers more “curated experiences,” Ganoung added.

Birdzi’s VISPER 2.0 solution, launched in 2022, was designed to improve retail personalization. With its latest integration, shopper and basket information from ECRS’s point-of-sale software is relayed directly into Birdzi’s customer intelligence platform, allowing for immediate, personalized promotions at the POS.

The integration has already been deployed at more than 80 Harps locations across Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. Harps, headquartered in Springdale, Arkansas, has roughly 115 total locations.

“Grocers are always looking for the latest developments to take their customer engagement to the next level,” said Brad Tracy, VP of direct sales at ECRS. “This strategic implementation with Birdzi allows grocery retailers to inspire heightened loyalty from their customers.”

Now, Harps customers can redeem coupons promptly at checkout and see their purchases and club balances reflected in their digital wallets in real time.

The CEO of Birdzi, meanwhile, said the company has only just begun conceiving of innovative ways to help retailers engage with shoppers.

“Collaborating with cutting-edge technology partners like ECRS allows us to make our customers’ jobs easier,” said Shekar Raman, who co-founded the company. “The Birdzi platform will continue to evolve with the flexibility to deliver scalable, efficient and tailored solutions. …”
