Beyond Meat Unveils “Beyond IV” Beef Boasting Clean Label Certification

Beyond Meat has announced its latest innovation, Beyond IV, the fourth generation of the company’s core beef platform. The new recipes are the result of a multi-year research effort to improve the taste and nutritional quality of Beyond Burger and Beyond Beef.

“Beyond IV represents a transformative step forward in delivering plant-based nutrition to the consumer in the form of meat,” said Ethan Brown, Beyond Meat Founder & CEO, in the press release. “The development of the new products occurred within an ecosystem of leading medical and nutrition experts and were designed to meet the standards of national health organizations to create a product that delivers the taste, satisfaction, and utility of 80/20 beef – yet is demonstrably healthier.”

Channeling Plant Power

According to the company, one of the most impactful changes to the new beef recipe is a shift to avocado oil, which helped reduce the saturated fat in the products by 60% per serving while still delivering a juicy, mouthwatering eating experience.

“Every ingredient in this fourth iteration was thoughtfully selected to bring the nutritional power of plants – from the heart-healthy monounsaturated fats in avocado oil, to the protein and fiber in peas, red lentils, faba beans, and brown rice,” said Brown.

In addition to a simplified ingredient list, Beyond IV products offer:

  • 21g of protein per serving
  • 2g of saturated fat derived from avocado oil (75% less sat fat than 80/20 beef)
  • 20% less sodium than the previous version
  • No cholesterol
  • No added antibiotics or hormones
  • No GMOs

Health Recognition and Certifications

Beyond IV beef has earned recognition from leading health organizations including the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association. The offerings have also received the Nutritionist Approved Emblem from Good Housekeeping and are the first in the plant-based category to be Clean Label Project Certified.

Furthermore, nutritionists are endorsing the new recipe. At a recent conference, 94% of registered dietitians who tried Beyond Burger 4.0 expressed enjoyment, perceived healthfulness, and a willingness to recommend it.

The new products will roll out this spring exclusively at retailers across the U.S.
